Tools for School Deliveries

It’s still mighty hot outside, but this week 10News and Publix have been putting teachers and kids throughout the Bay Area in a holiday mood. That’s what hundreds of Tools for School boxes can do.

“Christmas came early!” 10News Anchor Ryan Bass announced as he entered one of our classrooms here at Kathleen Elementary.  “Are you ready for some goodies?”  Our students were so excited to receive the boxes of paper, pens, and markers.

A big THANK YOU shout-out to 10News and Publix for brightening our students day!

KES Book Fair and Open House a Success!

Our September Library Media Center Book Fair and the Title One Open House were both successes!  Parents, students and staff enjoyed shopping for books and loads of miscellaneous items.  Parents were able to visit our classrooms and learn about all the great things going on at KES.   Thank you to everyone for your support!!

2019-20 School Year Off to a Great Start!

KES is off to a great start for the 2019-20 school year!  Students are “falling in line” to this year’s school theme “KES Boot Camp”.  They are already hard at work following school C.H.A.M.P. procedures, competing for the weekly AR trophy (Mrs. Owens 2nd grade class shown here) and checking out books from the Library Media Center.  Way to go, Cougars!  This promises to be another awesome year!!

Elementary Music Showcase

Every year, Polk County School Board Department of Fine Arts puts on the Elementary Music Showcase, where fourth and fifth graders from all over Polk County come together to create an evening of music. Students are selected to perform in the Girls Choir, Boys Choir, Orff Ensemble, or String Ensemble. This year, Kathleen Elementary School sent six students: Omaira Irizarry (Orff Ensemble), Jayla Brown (Girls Choir), Cameron Barnes (Boys Choir), Jovan Chery (Boys Choir), Dontavious Baker (Boys Choir), and Kayleigh Roberts (String Ensemble). These students committed to several after school rehearsals as well as an entire day of working with their group’s clinician to prepare several pieces of music to present on the evening of May 3rd in Branscomb Auditorium at Florida Southern College. They worked hard, represented KES well, demonstrated excellent musicianship, and most importantly, had a wonderful time making music together!

Math Boot Camp at KES

KES 5th grade teachers held a math Boot Camp for our students taking the May 2019 Math FSA test.  The teachers dressed in military fatigues and held a fun, energetic learning experience to boost their students’ confidence levels.  We know our students were pumped and ready to do their best on the Math FSA!  Make us proud, Cougars!!!
